Bristol Two-Wheel Training

Motorcycle training from cbt to direct access and beyond. Free assessment rides available.

The first thing that you need to do is decide upon which of the three ways of getting on the road legally (see the LICENCE OPTIONS page) would suit you best.

All three options require you to complete a CBT course first so if you are not sure which way to go, just do the CBT course and we will advise you of what might be the best course of action.

People who have not ridden or driven on public roads before are advised to complete the CBT course and then ride a learner motorcycle for at least 3 months in order to gain road experience before attempting the full licence test.

People with road experience in a car but who have never ridden a geared motorcycle and who wish to gain a full licence would also benefit from taking the CBT course first and we can use this as a basis for assessing the appropriate length of training to reach full licence standard.

Please call us to talk through what would be the best way of getting onto two wheels for you.

MOPEDS: We do not have any mopeds and so normally do not conduct moped training but we would be happy to advise anyone requiring a moped CBT on what they need to do and where to go.

We are a small friendly company of lifelong riders who are committed to help others enjoy what we enjoy safely.

We are a "no frills" organisation, we work from a home office and do not employ a receptionist, all of which helps to keep our prices low. However we do not compromise on the the quality of the motorcycles, clothing, radios and training provided. Our CBT site is large by most people's standards and heated toilets and refreshments (hot drinks and pies) are available on site. We run our courses "back to back" so only one course is running at any given time which means that we have permanent back-up in the event of staff illness so you won't be let down.

We do not try to put as many "bums on saddles" as possible. Quality of training comes first. Ratios per instructor are a maximun of 2:1 in all circumstances and all pairs will be matched for experience. If you are learning to ride a geared motorcycle you will not be matched with a non-beginner or a beginner on a motorcycle without gears.

We use Honda CG125 M-1's (2001-2003) for basic training. The M-1 is the first model to have an electric starter and the only model which retains the kick-start as a back-up which makes it perfect for training.

For Direct Access training we have Suzuki GS500E's which have been modified by the fitting of raised handlebars making it easier for the rider to sit more upright which assists in balancing the U-turn manoeuvre. The bikes are also fitted with an Audicator unit which is designed to make it more difficult to leave an indicator on accidentally.
