The DSA recommends that every new driver should receive 45 hours tuition with a professional instructor and then further 'other' lessons with family / friends. Remember this is only an average. Some pupils have less, some can have 60 hours or more. Lessons should never be rushed. All learners pass when they are ready. 1st attempt or otherwise. It does not matter.

The DSA intend to bring into force in the near future a minimum number of lessons with a professional instructor before being able to apply for the practical test. This is in place to deter pupils that feel they are ready after only 25 - 30 lessons.

Based on 40 hours: 1 hour per week will take you approx 11 months & 2 hours per week will take you approx 6 months. Consider this for an example only - 40 hours at £22 per hour, total = £880 ( experienced instructor ) or 60 hours at £17 per hour total = £1020 ( less experienced instructor ) & then you STILL HAVEN'T passed your test after numerous attempts. On your very first Lesson with BJM School of Motoring, if you have never driven before, your 1st lesson will be relaxed and enjoyable. You will be put at ease straight away. Your instructor will take you to a nice, quiet area away from all the traffic, there you will be shown step-by-step, what to do and why it is important. On your 1st lesson you will experience some driving of the car. Once your driving lessons progress your instructor will still be with you every step of the way until he feels you can take over some of the responsibility. It will be great fun with lots of laughs along the way.



With BJM, your driving instructor will:

-Be in control of the vehicle and your safety
-Give you as many lessons as you require
-Have a clean car and display a green DSA licence
-Be polite, professional and patient.
-Correct and discuss any faults that you make ( if any ) giving clear reasons of the dangers
-Arrive on time and give the full time allocated
-Help you with your theory
-Give you praise and feedback throughout your lesson.

To carry out some form of theory revision and practical driving in between lessons where possible. Have the ability to take on the information and learn with our support. To progress continually over the course of lessons until the instructor does not need to guide you.
